St George’s Hospital Medical School was founded in 1733 and was originally located at Hyde Park Corner until moving to our Tooting location in 1980. It was England’s second institution to offer official medical training courses. John Hunter, Edward Jenner, Henry Gray, and Patrick Steptoe are among the medical pioneers who graduated from St George’s.

How to Locate St George’s University:
St George’s, University of London is located in Tooting, south-west London, and shares a campus with St George’s hospital. Our front entrance is handicap accessible, and they are about a five-minute walk from Tooting Broadway Tube Station.
Effort Street connects the university and St George’s Hospital sites. Go to the main hospital entrance in Grosvenor Wing, near to Marks and Spencer. Continue straight ahead along the corridor and through the archway labelled ‘St George’s, University of London’ to the Hunter Wing. The main reception is located by the glass doors at the end of the corridor ahead of you, on your right.

Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for a scholarship you must:
- Have made an application for a postgraduate Master’s course, either full-time or part-time study, by the deadlines stated above
- Not already be qualified at a Master’s level or above (e.g. PhD)
- Be self-funding your course fees or in receipt of a tuition fee loan (courses funded by the NHS or students receiving employer or sponsor funding are not eligible)
- Have, or be predicted, a 2:1 or above or international equivalent
The Scholarship Committees will consider and score each application based on your:
- Degree classification
- Personal statement
- References
- Interview (where there is one)
Language Requirement:
To excel on your selected course, you must be excellent in reading, writing, speaking, and listening in English. The degree of English language proficiency necessary varies depending on the programme for which you have applied.
To get a Student Route visa (previously Tier 4) for undergraduate or postgraduate studies in the UK, students must demonstrate a minimum level of English language proficiency, according to UK Visas and Immigration. - There is no different application process to follow. As long as you complete your course application by the deadline indicated below, you will be automatically approved if you are a home or international applicant enrolling in a taught postgraduate Master’s course with a scholarship.
- This implies that your application must include all necessary supporting material required by the program you’re applying to, such as your references’ contact information, transcripts, and English language test scores.
- Your referees will be contacted at the time of submission; therefore, to guarantee that we obtain your references on time, we advise submitting earlier than the deadline. Alternatively, you will require that your referees complete their references for you on the same day you submit your application.
- Your scholarship application has been unsuccessful if, by July 1, 2024, you have not received a response.
