Impact Scholarship 2024 (University College London)

A central tenet of the UCL Master of Public Health (MPH) program is mitigating the effects of inequality. In order to address this, we are providing two scholarships a year to deserving candidates who have proven their need for financial assistance, have first hand knowledge of inequality, and exhibit a great deal of promise for improving population health. The student will be able to defray some of their full-time MPH program costs up to £19,300 thanks to the IMPACT Scholarship. Individuals who prefer to pursue flexible or part-time study schedules are also encouraged to apply. The scholarship, up to a maximum value of £19,300, will be transferred pro rata to the recipient’s tuition.

Scholarship Benefits:

Eligibility:

Candidates must fulfil all of the following criteria:

  • Has lived experience of inequality. This may include, but is not limited to, experience of inequality due to income, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, carer responsibilities, adverse childhood experiences, social exclusion, or disability.
  • Meets the admissions criteria for UCL online Master of Public Health (MPH).
  • AND have submitted an admissions application for the MPH programme at UCL, starting in 2024/25.

Selection Process:

The scholarship is given out in accordance with a thorough set of standards that assess applicants’ descriptions of:

  • How their experiences with inequality, whether resulting from differences in sexual orientation, gender, wealth, ethnicity, caregiving duties, poor childhood experiences, social exclusion, or disability—have influenced them and motivated them to pursue a career in public health.
  • why they ought to be awarded a scholarship to pursue a Master of Public Health degree, as well as the ways in which it will help them individually.
  • how they plan to apply their knowledge of inequality, the MPH program, and the scholarship to improve population health in their future careers.
  • Each application will be reviewed and given a unique score by a panel of two assessors. All assessors’ combined or average scores will be graded. Scholarship recommendations will be made for the top two applicants.
