Government of Colombia Foreign Scholarship
The Government of Colombia is offering the Colombia Foreign Scholarship to all international students from all origin. The scholarship is a fully funded program that covers tuition, accommodation, living stipends, travel costs, visa, and a further $250,000 stipend to cover costs related to the issuance of the Foreign Identification.
Applications are now open for the 2024/2025 Government of Colombia Scholarship. This program is aimed at attracting foreigners who wish to pursue their postgraduate studies in Colombia. As well as for foreigners from non-Spanish-speaking countries who need to strengthen their Spanish language to carry out postgraduate studies in Colombia.
The scholarships offer two types of applications:
- For foreigners who wish to pursue postgraduate studies in specialization, master’s, and doctorate degrees in public and private Colombian higher education institutions.
- For foreigners from non-Spanish speaking countries who wish to carry out postgraduate studies in specialization, master’s, and doctorate degrees in public and private Colombian higher education institutions.

Benefits of Colombia Foreign Scholarship 2024
- Medical and hospital assistance
- A letter for the online application of the courtesy visa
- ICETEX will support each foreign scholarship holder with a monthly support (living expenses)
- ICETEX will also support each scholarship holder with a value for books and materials
- Recipients will also receive a financial support equivalent to COP$250,000 to cover costs related to the issuance of the Foreign Identification.
- The coverage of the entire tuition will be granted by the Colombian higher education institution.
- Each scholarship holder will also receive an amount for installation expenses in Colombia.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for the Government of Colombia Scholarship, you must:
- Be a foreign citizen
- Not have Colombian nationality.
- Not residing, nor have resided the last 6 months prior to applying for the scholarship in Colombian territory. Also have not started studies in Colombia at the time of application to the corresponding call.
- In case of being selected, scholars can be asked by ICETEX to provide the Certificate of Migratory Movements. The date must not be above 30 days at the time of entering Colombian territory.
- Must not have any marital relationship in Colombia.
- Have a cumulative general average of 4.0 out of 5.0 in undergraduate to apply the call. According to the grading scale of each country, the note must be equivalent to a minimum of 4.0 for the Colombian scale.
- Have a professional, undergraduate, or graduate degree in any area of knowledge.
- Have admission to at least between one and three postgraduate programs found in the Academic Offer Catalog 2024-2 annexed to this announcement.
- Have good physical and mental health, certified by a doctor.

- Letter of pre-admission or final admission from the university.
- Letter of Academic Recommendation.
- Personal Statement (Essay)
- Health and Medical certificate.
- Professional experience certificates.

- Copy of valid passport.
